The negative effects of ecotourism Are Mercifully Not So Great As To Considerably Affect The Ecotourism Industry

Tourism brings with it a number of consequences that include social, cultural and environmental as well as economic growth and it is bound to have positive and negative aspects to it. Ecotourism is no exception and though it has many major benefits there are a few not so positive sides to it such as the negative effects of ecotourism that touch on various aspects including low level jobs being created which are offered to the local population. Among the negative effects of ecotourism that affects many ecotourism countries is that higher and management level jobs generally are gobbled up by white people leaving the local population being satisfied with the less paying jobs.

Importing Goods

Though a lot of money that is earned from ecotourism is finding its way into paying for more schools, cultural improvement, temple maintenance and such like, there is the negative effects of ecotourism in that much money is also being spent on importing goods that usually are not beneficial to the local economy.

The negative effects of ecotourism also means that ecotourism can in rare instances cause damage to the natural resources with corals being damaged and even the marine life underwater gets depleted due to over-fishing which is done to meet the increase in tourist market demand.

Another of the negative effects of ecotourism is that some land may have to be stripped to make landing strips and which can result in destruction of nesting sites as well as threaten local water supply. Such negative effects of ecotourism are a worrying feature of ecotourism which seems to be only creating problems rather than solutions and benefits for the locals.

No doubt, ecotourism brings with it many economic benefits and some places have a high percentage of revenue generated from ecotourism. However, most benefits seem to only percolate to the lower strata of the local population, which means that there is a general drainage of labor and also abandonment of land, thus concentrating the economic benefits to just the ecotourism destination and not affecting the rest of the region and country.

On the whole, however ecotourism is more beneficial to the area and also the locals and the negative effects of ecotourism are few and not so great as to threaten the ecology and the peoples in any great measure. As everything that one does in life will have a positive and negative side, ecotourism will naturally have a negative side as well, though one can take heart from the fact that these are not so great as to cause any great upheaval in the ecotourism industry or the local environment and population.

Eco Lodge

On the other hand, some people find that ecotourism is becoming a problem for other nature lovers.

However, the main ecotourism policy is promoting awareness of the environment through allowing tourists to get up-close to nature. The negative effects of ecotourism also means that ecotourism can in rare instances cause damage to the natural resources with corals being damaged and even the marine life underwater gets depleted due to over-fishing which is done to meet the increase in tourist market demand. However, not every ecotourism country is a democratic or capitalist country and there are different political ideologies prevailing which mean that some of these countries may be politically neutral or they may be conforming to government interests. So, these ecotourism debates go on to take the position that eco-tourists are creating big economic as well as environmental and even social impacts through the simple process of merely arriving at an ecotourism destination that more often than not is in a developing country.

You are not alone in this, because more and more people like the idea of spending time in an environment free from cars, traffic, and tall buildings.
Today, our society is becoming increasingly more aware of the need to conserve our ecology and natural resources, and along with being able to travel to exotic locales has drawn many more eco-travelers now than at any time in the past. In addition, it may also be in your best interest to review ongoing projects to see if your project falls in an applicable area. Overall there are both positive and negative issues having to do with ecotourism, however if the situation is looked at seriously and properly and the problems are taken care of, then there will really only be positive results and aftermath from ecotourism, as there should be.

Another type of ecotourism is pro-poor tourism, which is a type that is set up in developing countries as a means to basically improve the local economy and assist people as best as possible.
Within this sphere of tourism is the new trend known as ecotourism whose main aim is to minimize the negative aspects of tourism on the host country. If one perpetuates teaching ecotourism to where the awareness level of the subject arises, then the teacher will be doing the world a great service. This skepticism, however, would be harmful to the children ecotourism gambit.
